British Motor company Morgan is unveiling the world’s first pollution-free sports car at the Geneva Motor Show, and wait it just ain’t green it looks futuristic.. oh but then all green cars are, but this one is a show stealer.

Welcome the Morgan LifeCar.

The little company’s LifeCar is powered by hydrogen and backed by the Government, world-class universities and hi-tech companies.

Bearing in mind the car’s £120,000 price tag - and with hydrogen fuel being in such scarce supply - it is unlikely to make much of an impression on the market at the moment.
Hydrogen from the fuel cell combines with oxygen taken from the air outside in an electro-chemical reaction.

The electricity produced is used to power the car and the only waste product is water vapour.

Until now such technology has been the preserve of the likes of BMW, Ford and General Motors, which owns Vauxhall.

The top speed of this SPORTS car is only 90 MPH, but then it is pollution free, and it sure has the looks of a sports car with zero emission.

The LifeCar is based around the structure of the existing Aero 8.

The Earth times reports

Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of Porsche sports cars and Cayenne SUVs in the United States, today announced February new-car sales of 1,715 in the United States, representing a 13% decrease from February 2007 sales of 1,967.

This is bad news after the last week’s bleak economic numbers from the US. 2008 is a great year for sports cars with a slew of new launches, but sales will be bad, as this report shows, and many other reports..

Forget stocks, forget even domaining (unless you have a domain like sex.com), the real money is in classic cars. Look at this lists of some classic cars and the price they can fetch.

1967-69 ALFA ROMEO TIPO 33/2 STADALE ($1 MILLION AND UP): If this gorgeous, low-slung fiberglass body car — Alfa’s second mid-engine auto — seems to cost a lot, consider that you could have bought one of the 18 built (to certify it for racing) for $650,000-$680,000 in 2005.

1970 AMC REBEL MACHINE ($14,500): Nobody really took muscle cars from defunct American Motors Corp. seriously until fairly recently. But the mid-size Rebel coupe finally is getting its day in the sun. It had a big 390-cubic-inch V-8 with 340 horsepower hooked to a four-speed manual transmission and such items as a hood scoop, sport suspension and patriotic red, white and blue plaint scheme. Quite the dude, this one.

1960-63 ASTON MARTIN DB4GT ZAGATO (MILLIONS AND MILLIONS): The classic car price guides simply say “value not estimable,” which means you better be Ralph Lauren or Donald Trump before you even consider one of the 19 built. In 2005, this Aston was valued at $2 million to $3 million, and is worth far more now. It was a special high-performance British Aston with a voluptuous body by Italy’s famous Zagato exotic car design outfit. Some feel it’s the most desirable Aston road/racing model ever built. It had a 314-horsepower engine, which whisked it to 153 mph. Even James Bond had to settle for a regular 1963-65 Aston Martin DB5.

1935 AUBURN 851 “BOATTAIL” SPEEDSTER ($161,000): This is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful cars of all time — and only sold for $2,245 in 1935. It was styled by the legendary Gordon Buehrig, engineered by August Duesenberg (of Duesenberg fame) and directed by talented Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg president Harold Ames. It resembled a classic, fast 1930s watercraft with its tapered tail and pontoon fenders. Its supercharged inline eight-cylinder engine generated 150 horsepower, when the sensational “hot” new Ford V-8 produced 90 horsepower.

1952-55 BENTLEY R-TYPE CONTINENTAL ($180,000): James Bond drove a Bentley (at least in the Bond adventure books) before he got an Aston Martin in the movies. This hand-built Bentley had a sleek four-seat coupe body with exquisite lines and a sloping rear end. It could do 90 mph all day with its strong six-cylinder engine. Only 208 were built.

1966-69 BIZZARRINI ($165,000): Italian Giotto Bizzarrini, who did great work for Ferrari and Lamborghini, built this sleek, child-high, 145-mph sports car, which looks like nothing else. Bizzarrini gave it a powerful Chevrolet Corvette V-8 for reliability, although he had designed the Lamborghini V-12 engine used for more than 40 years. About 100 Bizzarrinis were built.

If you are a little short on the cash, you can always go for a replica of the classic. But even the Replica of a 1967 Alfa Romeo could set you down by a few hundred thousand.

New Jaguar F Type 2 Seaters

jaguar-f-type.jpg

A foiled attempt of takeover by an Indian car company, much ups and downs, now Jaguar has great plans to take on the new year. Jaguar has plans to introduce soon, A $50,000 Jaguar F-Type two-seat sports car, a coupe version of the new XF sedan and a sporty four-door XK supersedan.

Almost as straightforward to get into production is the XF Coupe. Work already under way on the XF-based two-door incorporates styling cues such as the two-inch-lower roofline of the C-XF concept.

Less likely is an XF convertible, despite interest among U.S. dealers. Engineering studies show a large amount of platform strengthening would be needed, adding weight that would compromise performance. Jaguar also isn’t convinced that sales would justify the investment.

Jaguar got almost taken over by an Indian Motor Company that sells no cars outside India, but part of a very profitable and highly valued conglomerate, the TATA group.

Phoenix GT/Uirapuru, name taken from an amazonian songbird is a Sports car that will come Brazil hopefully soon, and with a whopping 800 hp this sure id going to give its Americana and German counterparts a run for their speed.

A very rare Brazilian sports car (only 76 units until the end of production, in 1967), said to have inspired the Jensen Interceptor’s design, what could be true, since the Uirapuru, also known as Brasinca 4200 GT, was presented in 1964 and the Jensen, only in 1966. About 41 years after it disappeared, the Uirapuru intends to get back to life with modern features and an amazing Judd V10 engine that pumps out up to 800 hp, if not restricted. Peter Schwarzenbauer, President of Porsche Cars North America, will unveil the 2008 Porsche Cayenne GTS at a breakfast before the public opening of the Chicago Auto Show. Schwarzenbauer will demonstrate how an SUV can be fun to drive and earn a high performance rating in addition to its utilitarian configuration. Many of Porsche’s latest engineering innovations are incorporated in the new GTS model. He can also answer questions on the state of the sports car market in the U.S.

BACKGROUND:

The Porsche Cayenne has been the best-selling Porsche model since it was introduced in February, 2003. A hybrid model, still in the design stage, was announced recently to join the model line by 2010. The 2008 Cayenne GTS being introduced in Chicago features a 405hp 4.8 liter V-8 engine. Based on the same V8 found in the Cayenne S, this more robust powerplant can be coupled either with an automatic Tiptronic S or, for the first time in a Cayenne V8, a six-speed manual transmission for those who want to take full advantage of this new power and suspension package. The GTS gets its cornering prowess from standard 21-inch alloy rims equipped with 295/35 R21 tires and air suspension that features Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM).

The Cayenne GTS front end is reminiscent of the Cayenne Turbo while the body has a lower stance and a striking new wheel-arch design that complements the new 21-inch rims. The interior boasts redesigned front and rear seats that offer a sportier look and feel with Alcantara to hold both driver and passenger in place during spirited driving.

The 2008 Cayenne GTS goes on sale this and pricing for this new model is US $69,300.
